Your Optimum Health is on Your Horizon

Q) Is natural healthcare right for me?
A)
It is each person's God-given and Constitutional right to choose the treatment method(s) that he or she prefers -- natural, medical, or a combination of both -- natural and medical together. Natural and medical approaches may be safely combined. If you wish to pursue a natural approach or if you wish to safely combine natural and medical approaches, first schedule an appointment with either Ron or Pam Anderson to discuss any symptoms you may be experiencing. At the close of your appointment, recommendations for natural products and services with be discussed.

Q) How long will it take me to obtain optimum health and wellness?
A)
What value do you place for obtaining optimum health and wellness?  Answering a question with a question is ambiguous at best. Yet, the truth is, each person must decide for him/herself the value of optimum health and wellness. The value you place for obtaining optimum health and wellness, will determine the "time" it will take you to achieve it. For those who truly desire optimum health and wellness, they commit to the journey. They will not allow anything or anyone to interfere with achieving this goal. For others, they are not as committed. They do not follow through and/or are "sloppy" with recommendations; therefore, their path to optimum health and wellness may take lengthy "detours" resulting in delaying the achievement of their goal. How long will it take for you to achieve optimum health and wellness? Only YOU can answer that question.

Q) What is alternative medicine?
A)
The term alternative medicine, as used in the modern western world, encompasses any healing practice "that does not fall within the realm of conventional
medicine." Commonly cited examples include naturopathy and naturopathic medicine, chiropractic, herbalism, traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, meditation, yoga, biofeedback, hypnosis, bodywork, homeopathy and diet-based therapies, in addition to a range of other practices. It is frequently grouped with complementary
medicine, which generally refers to the same interventions when used in conjunction with mainstream techniques,  under the umbrella term complementary and alternative medicine, or CAM

Q) What is Naturopathy?
A)
Naturopathy is a specialized and distinct healing art (utilizing non-invasive, natural principles) that is founded on the belief that diet, mental state, exercise, etc., are central to the origin and treatment of disease. As trained specialists in the field of Naturopathy, Ron and Pam empower individuals to achieve their optimum health through Naturopathic principles and cutting-edge technology (NanoSRT   Standard of Care Wellness System). Their training includes: galvanic skin response (GSR) testing; anatomy and physiology; orthomolecular medicine; dietary and nutritional evaluations; herbology; homeopathy; essential oils and aromatherapies; Bach Flowers; Reams testing; dried blood cell analysis; hair, face, and nail analysis; iridology; acupressure, muscle relaxation and structural normalization; craniosacral therapy and laser acutherapy (needle-less acupuncture). Well-being of body, mind (soul) and spirit is achieved as established in God’s Word. They see their role as a teacher/consultant to those who seek their counsel. They believe in the body’s innate, God-given, natural ability to heal itself when given an appropriate internal and external environment. It is their belief that each person has the God-given and Constitutional right to choose which healthcare method is best for him/her…medical, natural, or an integration of both. Each person is the steward of his/her body. It’s your health...live responsibly.

Q) What is herbalism?
A)
Herbalism is a traditional medicinal or folk medicine practice based on the use of plants and plant extracts. Herbalism is also known as botanical medicine, medical herbalism, herbal medicine, herbology, and phytotherapy. Sometimes the scope of herbal medicine is extended to include fungi and bee products, as well as minerals, shells and certain animal parts. Many plants synthesize substances that are useful to the maintenance of health in humans and other animals. These include aromatic substances, most of which are phenols or their oxygen-substituted derivatives such as tannins. Many are secondary metabolites, of which at least 12,000 have been isolated — a number estimated to be less than 10% of the total. In many cases, these substances (particularly thealkaloids) serve as plant defense mechanisms against predation by microorganisms, insects, and herbivores. Many of the herbs and spices used by humans to season food yield useful medicinal compounds.

Q) What is a dietary supplement?
A)
In the United States, a dietary supplement is defined under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA) as a product that is intended to supplement the diet and bears or contains one or more of the following dietary ingredients: a vitamin,  a mineral, an herb or other botanical (excluding tobacco), an amino acid, a dietary substance for use by people to supplement the diet by increasing the total dietary intake, or a concentrate, metabolite, constituent, extract, or combination of any of the above.  Furthermore, it must be: intended for ingestion in pill, capsule, tablet, powder or liquid form not represented for use as a conventional food or as the sole item of a meal or diet labeled as a "dietary supplement."

Q) What is homeopathy?
A)
Homeopathy is a holistic therapeutic medical science based upon the teachings of ancient scholars as early as Hippocrates. Samuel Hahnemann is credited as the "Father of Homeopathy" as a result of his intense study of homeopathy and his documentation proving its efficacy.  Homeopathy's precept is based upon using minute doses of potentized substances. Other concepts central to homeopathy include Hering's Law, symptom classification, hierarchy of symptoms, potencies, repertory use, case taking and Materia Medica.  "It has been suggested that Moses was the most ancient healer to use homeopathic principles. From the Bible: "The Hebrew came to Mara, where the water was bitter. Some complained: "What shall we drink?" Moses prayed and after the prayer he threw a bitter branch into the bitter water; and the water turned sweet!--For God is not like the humans, who can soothe the bitter only with sweet: with the bitter he makes the bitter sweet."--Illustrierte Geschichte der Medizin (1990, p.2237, as communicated in Homeopathic Links, 1/91, p.22)." (Excerpt taken from Yasgur's Homeopathic Dictionary and Holistic Health Reference, 2007, p.112,113)

Q) Who is Samuel Hahnemann?
A)
Samuel Hahnemann conceived of homeopathy while translating a medical treatise by Scottish physician and chemist William Cullen into German.  Being skeptical of Cullen’s theory concerning cinchona’s action in malaria, Hahnemann ingested some of the bark specifically to see if it cured fever "by virtue of its effect of strengthening the stomach".  Upon ingesting the bark, he noticed few stomach symptoms, but did experience fever, shivering and joint pain; symptoms similar to some of the early symptoms of malaria, the disease that the bark was ordinarily used to treat. From this, Hahnemann came to believe that all effective drugs produce symptoms in healthy individuals similar to those of the diseases that they can treat. This later became known as the "law of similiars", the most important concept of homeopathy.  The term "homeopathy" was coined by Hahnemann and first appeared in print in 1807, although he began outlining his theories of "medical similiars" in a series of articles and monographs in 1796. Hahnemann began to test what effects substances produced in humans, a procedure which would later become known as "homeopathic proving".  These time-consuming tests required subjects to clearly record all of their symptoms as well as the ancillary conditions under which they appeared. Hahnemann saw this data as a way of identifying substances suitable for the treatment of particular diseases.  The first collection of provings was published in 1805 and a second collection of 65 remedies appeared in his book, Materia Medica Pura, in 1810. Hahnemann believed that large doses of drugs that caused similar symptoms would only aggravate illness, and so he advocated extreme dilutions of the substances; he devised a technique for making dilutions that he believed would preserve a substance's therapeutic properties while removing its harmful effects, proposing that this process aroused and enhanced "spirit-like medicinal powers held within a drug".  He gathered and published a complete overview of his new medical system in his 1810 book, The Organon of the Healing Art, whose 6th edition, published in 1921, is still used by homeopaths today.

Q) What is nutritional and natural health counseling?

A) Nutritional and natural health counseling is the process in which Ron or Pam works with an individual to assess his or her health status. Once the assessment is completed, Ron or Pam will discuss with the client possible avenues for achieving optimum health via natural health options such as possible dietary changes; the use of nutritional supplements and homeopathics. Other natural health options may be explored as well, including but not limited to, needle-less acupuncture and craniosacrals treatment. The client may be provided with any or all of the following: nutritional information, educational materials, support and follow-up. Ron's and Pam's goals are to help each individual to reach his or her optimum health goals.

Q) What is Biblical-based counseling for individuals, families and couples?
A) Ron and Pam believe the answers for any of life's struggles can be found in the Word of God, the Bible. All of us face challenges. All of us will all feel pain, anxiety and confusion at different points in our lives. Many of us are confronted with struggles that can cause tremendous pain and pressure.  Whatever challenges you are facing, Ron and Pam desire to help you deal with these challenges utilizing the Bible as their counseling foundation. Their goal is to empower you through Truth to get back on the road to health and happiness by providing you with a loving and accepting Biblically-based counseling enviromnment.  Ron or Pam will counsel individuals, couples, and families.

Q) What is applied kinesiology aka muscle testing?
A)
Applied kinesiology is a system that evaluates structural, chemical, and mental aspects of health using manual muscle testing alongside conventional diagnostic methods. The essential premise of applied kinesiology that is not shared by mainstream medical theory is that: every organ dysfunction is accompanied by a weakness in a specific corresponding muscle, the viscerosomatic relationship. Treatment modalities relied upon by practitioners include:  joint manipulation and mobilization; myofascial; cranial and meridian therapies; clinical nutrition; and dietary counseling.

Q) What is galvanic skin response aka GSR testing?
A)
GSR is the abbreviation for galvanic skin response which is the measurement of resistance to electricity within body tissues or structures. By measuring bioelectrical resistance within the body, a GSR allows insight to the related functional health of organs and/or body systems as set forth by Dr. Reinhold Voll and allowed by the FDA. There are six phases of health indicated with GSR testing. The criteria for establishing a natural approach is dependent upon which organ(s), body system(s) and/or phases impacted as indicated per GSR testing. At the end of each testing session, each client receives a color graph of the GSR test. Obtaining a copy of the GSR test provides a two-fold benefit. First, it enables each client to monitor his or her progress towards health and wellness. Secondly, it empowers each client to actively participate in the healing journey. The device for measuring GSR used by Pam Anderson, DNM, RN, CNHP, AHNA, is a Class II Medical Device registered with the FDA. This device is used in medical offices across the nation.

Q) What is biological ionization aka reams testing?
A)
Biological ionization, as discovered by Dr. Carey Reams, is a comprehensive system of mathematical principles that allow for a better understanding of health, disease, and the impact of disease upon the human body. It is based upon the understanding that the loss of energy in humans is the beginning of disease..thus, the purpose of reams testing is to analyze and identify electro-biochemical dysfunctions (disease) taking place within the human body, robbing it of  its energy. Once identified, each client--along with either Ron Anderson or Pam Anderson--can develop a personalized nutritional plan addressing those electro biochemical dysfunctions. Reams testing is a non-invasive, seven-part test comprising saliva pH, urine pH, total carbohydrates, conductivity, cell debris, nitrate nitrogen and ammonia nitrogen. What do these reveal? Calcium needs for your body chemistry will be determined; what you are or are not digesting will be revealed; how well your body assimilates (breaks down and utilizes) nutrients will be shown, vitamin and mineral deficiencies are revealed; low, internal organs such as kidneys, liver, heart, colon, etc. will be shown. In conclusion, your overall health status will be revealed. At the completion of testing, each client will receive a 16-page report explaining the seven-part test results. Testing accuracy requires a 2-hour fasting period before the test is completed. Absolutely nothing by mouth for 2-hours prior to testing--no water, no food, no mints, no gum, no brushing of teeth, etc.

Q) What is Laser AcuTherapy?
A)Needle-less a
cupuncture is cutting-edge technology utilizing laser and gold or silver buttons. It is based upon acupuncture therapy...just minus the needles! How will needle-less acupuncture help?  Needle-less acupuncture will help the same conditions as traditional acupuncture (use of needles). It is effective in the treatment of back pain, headache, migraine and sports injuries. But, it can provide more than pain relief! It is helpful in treating anxiety, insomnia, digestive problems, abdominal and menstrual cramps, weight control, infertility and much more!  Common conditions treated include: Neck or cervical pain; shoulder pain; lower back pain; sciatica and hip pain; anxiety; depression; insomnia; headaches and migraines; Chronic Fatigue Syndrome; sinus problems; arthritis and arthritic pain; jaw and face pain; Irritable Bowel Syndrome; tennis and golfer’s elbow; sports injuries; motor vehicle injuries; stress-related disorders; menstrual and PMS problems; menopausal issues; smoking addiction; obesity and weight control; infertility; and other health disorders can be positively influenced! When needle-less acupuncture is combined with nutritional recommendations as suggested at the end of your appointment with either Ron or Pam, faster health gains may be yours!

Q) What is needle-less sensitivity screening?
A) Needle-less sensitivity screening can be done via GSR technique utilizing the Vantage computer (a class II medical device). This test allows for evaluating potential substances or allergens that may trigger an allergic response. Potential environmental and dietary substances will be tested. (For testing accuracy, hormone testing should be done prior to allergy testing.)

Q) What is needle-less hormone testing?
A)Needle-less hormone testing can be done via GSR technique utilizing the Vantage computer (a class II medical device). This test allows for evaluating hormone levels for the thyroid, adrenals, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, etc., to name a few. Hormone testing can identify potential diabetic-type issues; infertility/pregnancy challenges and other potential significant health concerns.

Q) What are craniosacrals?
A)
Craniosacral therapy is an alternative medicine therapy used by osteopaths, massage therapists, naturopaths, chiropractors, and occupational therapists. Craniosacral treatment involves the practitioner placing his or her hands on the client, which allows the practitioner to "tune into" any maladies within it. The practitioner gently works with the spine and the skull and its cranial sutures, diaphragms, and fascia. In this way, the restrictions of nerve passages are said to be eased, the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spinal cord is said to be optimized, and misaligned bones are said to be restored to their proper position. Craniosacral practitioners use the therapy to treat mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, TMJ Syndrome, and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.

Q) What are  L & D craniosacrals?
L & D craniosacrals are now available for women in their 7th-9th months of pregnancy.  You have prepared for the birth of your baby. You have its cradle set up and its dresser filled with diapers and clothing articles. You have follow the guidelines for a healthy pregnancy throughout with the hopes of delivering a strong, healthy baby. But, what about you? Q) What is hot stone treatment?
A) Hot Stone Therapy incorporates the use of water-treated stones that have been heated. These heated stones are placed at specific sites on the body to promote relaxation; to aid in opening energy pathways (meridians); and, to facilitate detoxification. Pretreating with heated stones enables Ron or Pam to more easily and more effectively carry out deep tissue manipulation.
Anyone can benefit from Hot Stone Therapy.  Conditions that can be treated and some benefits of Hot Stone Therapy include: muscular aches and pains; back pain; MS; arthritis; Fibromyalgia; circulatory conditions;  depression; insomnia;  deep muscle and tissue manipulation and relaxation; alleviation of stress and anxiety;  an aid in soothing the mind; toxins are released; can aid in improved circulation. Hot Stone Therapy is an excellent tool that can boost your body’s natural healing ability.

Q) What is reflexology?

A)
Reflexology (zone therapy) is an alternative medicine method involving the practice of massaging or applying pressure to parts of the feet, or sometimes the hands and ears, with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body, or to improve general health.

Q) What is an ionic footbath?
A)
Ionic footbaths offer an effective and relaxing way to detox, cleanse and balance your body by drawing the impurities (toxins) out of your body through your feet. The ionic footbath process is based upon osmosis--while you are soaking your feet in a tub of warm saline water--an ionater releases ions into the water. The polarity is reversed, creating positive ions and negative ions. This ionic effect enables your cells to release harmful toxins such as heavy metals, fats, oils, parasites and other harmful debris. The water will change color according to the type of toxins released and the organs and/or organ systems that are being most compromised as a result of the toxic build-up in the body.

Q) What is Nutritional Blood Typing?
A)
Nutritional Blood Typing will teach you which foods you are designed to eat and the ideal proportions of the types of nutrients you require, whether you are a 'Carb', a 'Protein', or a 'Mixed' type.  Every individual's response to food is unique. Food provides the "fuel" your body needs in order to obtain and maintain optimum health and wellness. Your response to how this "fuel" is metabolized is based upon several factors:  your fuel -- genetics, biochemical makeup, family history, and your own interaction with your environment.  Foods and individual nutrients do not impact each person the same!  This is the reason that foods normally considered healthy and nutritious can have an adverse effect upon some individuals. Nutritional Blood Typing is the only system that allows you to customize your nutritional intake based on the way your body reacts to food. Once you have discovered your nutritional Blood type , you can will gain understanding of your own unique characteristics which will empower you to  choose the correct foods for your type. The end result of this knowledge is the optimal resolution from weight issues, disease, accelerated aging and towards optimal health and your naturally ideal weight. Ron and Pam employ a unique formula to enable you to discover your nutritional blood type and to obtain your goal of optimum health and wellness. A blood-typing kit will be provided along with personal consultations regarding your nutritional blood type and personalized recommendations will be vided.

In essence, the APO E Gene Diet creates a customized plan   for your body to help you lose weight, while at the same time minimizing your risk of developing chronic diseases.  Where can I get this testing done? For testing guidelines, contact the Oklahoma office or visit our website. Testing is done by mail and phone consultations will be scheduled to discuss your personal plan.

Q) Does distilled water rob the body of essential minerals?
A)
No this is physiologically impossible. Some have been lead to believe that because distilled water is so pure, it will leach healthy minerals and trace elements from the body. In our bodies, distilled water cleans out impurities and replenishes the essential nutrient required for human life; pure, clean, healthy water. Our cells use the organic minerals found in food for body growth and maintenance; however, the impurities that the body cannot use are flushed out with distilled water. Distilled water flushes out inorganic minerals and pollutants which are retained in the body and accumulated in vital organs such as the liver, kidneys, and intestines. A continuous or prolonged exposure to inorganic minerals and pollutants may cause carcinogens to form within tissues. Distilled water consists of nothing but hydrogen and oxygen molecules (H2O) and its pH will be slightly alkaline at 7.

Q) What are free radicals?
A)
Free radicals attack the healthy cells in the artery lining, puncture into the muscle sheath, and cause swelling. Free radicals interfere with normal cell reproduction and cause build-up on the artery walls, and that is the beginning of the hardening of the arteries. Some causes of free radicals are: chlorine; refined sugar;  soft water; smoking; poor food combining which putrefies and sends carbon monoxide into the blood stream; industrial chemicals; oral contraceptives; hydrogenated oil; rancid unhydrogentated oil; caffeine; food additives; radiation; gas; constipation; fumes from autos; and many other detrimental modern day wonders. Cholesterol, or fat, is not the root cause of America's health problems. Only fats that the body cannot use build on an existing problem. Eliminate causes of free radicals, and you will see a significant difference in cholesterol buildup. (ref. Lee DuBelle, Proper Food Combining Works)

Q) What is the function of the blood?
A)
The major function of the blood is the transportation of body fluids.
*Nutritive--Transporting nutrient molecules (glucose, amino acids, fatty acids, & glycerol from the small intestine or storage sites to tissues.
*Respiratory--Transporting oxygen from the lungs to the tissues & carbon dioxide from the tissue to the lungs.
*Excretory--Transporting waste products (lactic acid, urea, & creatinine) from the cells to the excretory organs.
*Regulatory--Transporting hormones & other chemical substances that control the proper functioning of many organs.
*Circulating--excess heat to the body surfaces & to the lungs, through which it is lost (controls body temp). Maintains water balance & a constant environment for tissue cells.

Q) What is the function of the lymphatic system?
A)
The Lymph System can be considered a supplement to the circulatory system. It is composed of lymph, lymph nodes, lymph vessels, the spleen, the thymus gland, lymphoid tissues in the intestinal tract, and the tonsils. Unlike the Circulatory System, it has no muscular pump or heart.
The Functions of the Lymph System include:
1. Lymph fluid acts as an intermediary between the blood in the capillaries and the tissue
2. Lymph vessels transport the excess tissue fluid back into the circulatory system.
3. Lymph nodes produce lymphocytes and filter out harmful  bacteria.
4. Spleen
5. Produces lymphocytes and monocytes
6. Acts as a reservoir for the blood in case of emergency
7. Works as a recycling plant, destroying and removing old red blood cells, preserving the hemoglobin.
8. Thymus gland produces T-lymphocytes necessary for the immune system.

Q) What is the function of the central nervous system?
A) It is the most highly organized system of the body.
The two main communication systems of the body are the endocrine system and the nervous system. Both systems send chemical messengers and nerve impulses to all of the structures / body systems. The central nervous system is the most highly organized system of the body consisting of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.  The functions of the nervous system include:
1. It is the communication and coordination system in the body
   * It receives messages from stimuli all over the body.
   * The brain interprets the message
   * The brain responds to the message and carries out an activity

2.
It is the seat of intellect and reasoning

Q) What is the function of the skin?
A) The skin has 7 functions.
1. It is a covering for the underlying-deeper tissues, protecting them from dehydration, injury, and germs.
2. It helps regulate the body temperature by controlling the amount of heat loss. Evaporation of water from the skin, in the form of perspiration, helps rid the body of excess heat. Only a very small amount of waste is eliminated through the skin.
3. It helps to manufacture Vitamin D. The ultraviolet light on the skin is necessary for the first stages of Vitamin D formation.
4. It is the site of many nerve endings. A square inch of skin contains about 72 feet of nerves and hundreds of receptors.
 5. It has tissues for the temporary storage of fat, glucose, water, and salts. Most of these substances are later absorbed by the blood and transported to other parts of the body.
6. It screens out harmful ultraviolet radiation contained in sunlight.
7. It’s special properties allow for absorption of medicines, such as topical homeopathics.

Q) What are the special senses? What makes up the sensory organs and receptors?
A)
The special senses are the organs and receptors associated with touch, smell, vision, hearing and taste. The eye, ear, nose, and tongue are responsible for transmitting the impulses they receive to the brain for interpretation. The brain signals back the appropriate response. For example: When the tongue tastes ice cream, the brain will not only signal back a pleasurable response, but it will help us to identify the flavor such as strawberry; when the ears hear a person speaking, the brain registers the sounds and transmits signals for interpreting the sounds into words! Sensory receptors are special structures which are stimulated by environmental changes. Sensory receptors are: touch, pain, temperature, and pressure. Sensory receptors are located either in the skin or in the connective tissue. For example: The sensory receptors are stimulated by the taste buds on the tongue when it comes in contact with ice cream; the sensory receptors in the retina of the eye transmit images which the brain recognizes and interprets; specialized cells in the ear and the nose allow us to hear and smell. A complex series of events occur each time a sensory organ and/or sensory receptor is stimulated. The brain receives the signals from one or more of these at a single time, the brain then interprets and transmits the correct responses.

Our bodies, God’s amazing creations! (Psalm 139:14)
